Golestan, top sunflower producing province in Iran: Photos

Golestan Province, which lies in Iran’s northeast, is an agricultural hub and one of the major sunflower producing provinces in the country.

Golestan is a major producer of grains and oilseeds.

This year, about 5,000 hectares of land in Golestan were planted with sunflowers, including oilseed sunflowers and confection sunflower.

Seeds of confection sunflower are eaten as a snack food, while the seeds of oilseed sunflowers are pressed to extract oil.
